September 26, 2007 - Bus Driver Allows Kindergarten Student To Get Off At Wrong Bus Stop Yamilett Hernandez is afraid to put her five-year-old daughter back in a school bus system that failed her on the first day of school. The 22-year-old mother, a babysitter and police spent a couple of frantic hours on that first day trying to find the Peel District School Board kindergarten student, after the child was left at the wrong bus stop. Hernandez said her daughter Ashley was dropped off at one stop, while her caregiver waited to collect her at another. School board officials have said bus operators have been asked to review procedures with drivers. According to Woodland, the board is in the process of sending a memo to every bus driver emphasizing the importance of following protocol to the letter. School staff is also being asked to review procedures. September 6, 2007 - Attorneys General Call For Federal And Statewide Reforms To Increase School And College Campus Safety The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Task Force on School and Campus Safety condemned school emergency management plans, stating that "too many emergency management plans have become stale and outdated in the past several years". The report also states "the reporting of violent incidents at schools under various state laws, is inconsistent and inaccurate and does not promote true accountability on the part of schools and colleges in terms of their dealing with public safety issues".
